Database Administrator
We are looking for a Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our MS SQL Server environments, with a strong focus on availability, security, and performance. You will play a key role in ensuring the continuous operation of our databases, particularly in complex, high-availability scenarios such as Availability Groups. In addition, you will apply your knowledge of alternative database engines, such as MongoDB and CockroachDB, along with your expertise in cloud-based database administration.
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and administration for multiple MS SQL databases, with a particular focus on high-availability configurations like Availability Groups.
- Diagnose and resolve complex performance and availability issues, performing in-depth root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Oversee database maintenance processes, including performance tuning, index management, and job automation, ensuring optimal operation.
- Develop and enforce backup and recovery policies, ensuring database resilience and disaster recovery readiness.
- Apply security patches, conduct version upgrades, and enforce strict compliance with database security best practices.
- Handle support calls and resolve technical issues promptly, including responses to security incidents and operational challenges.
- Leverage expertise in alternative database engines like MongoDB and CockroachDB to contribute to cross-functional database projects.
- Manage and optimize cloud-based database environments, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability in cloud infrastructure.
- Solid, hands-on experience in MS SQL Server database administration in production environments.
- Extensive experience with MS SQL Server database features, including Jobs Scheduling, Monitoring, Patching, Backup/Recovery, Replication, Availability Groups, and Always On configurations.
- Good knowledge of memory tables and table partitioning
- Proven expertise in diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks and availability issues.
- Good understanding of alternative database engines like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and CockroachDB, with practical experience in administration and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of cloud database administration, with experience on platforms such as Azure.
- Practical experience with Git version control / GitLab.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with excellent communication skills.
- Strong teamwork, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, combined with a proactive approach to continuous learning.
