This Privacy Policy explains how Big Bet Jobs ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use bigbetjobs.com (the "Site"). We are the data controller for the personal data described below.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Big Bet Jobs is an independent job board for the iGaming and sports betting industry, operated as a sole trader. We are the data controller for your personal data.
Privacy contact: privacy@bigbetjobs.com
2. The data we collect
We only collect what we need to run the job board and provide the services you ask for:
- Account data — if you create an account or sign in: your email address, name (optional), and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
- Job-alert preferences — if you subscribe to job alerts: your email address and the preferences you set, which may include desired job titles, departments, seniority, working model, employment and contract type, company types, languages, and location preferences (cities or countries you select, including their approximate map coordinates, used to match nearby roles) and your chosen alert frequency.
- Saved jobs — the jobs you save to your account.
- Contact form — if you message us: your name, email address, company name (optional), enquiry type and your message.
- Technical and usage data — your IP address and basic browser/device information, used for security (rate-limiting and spam protection) and to keep the Site working. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and gives us only aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as page views and country-level location) — it does not identify you or track you across other sites.
- Email engagement — for the job-alert emails we send, we record whether links in the email are clicked, so we can understand whether our alerts are useful. We do not use open-tracking pixels.
We do not collect special-category data. The Site is a job board only — we do not operate any gambling or betting service.
3. How and why we use your data (legal bases)
- To create and manage your account — basis: performance of a contract.
- To send job-alert emails — basis: your consent (which you can withdraw at any time).
- To save jobs and store your preferences — basis: performance of a contract.
- To respond to contact-form messages — basis: our legitimate interests.
- For security, spam prevention and analytics — basis: our legitimate interests in keeping the Site safe and improving it.
- To send verification and account-related emails — basis: performance of a contract / legitimate interests.
4. Email and marketing
When you subscribe to job alerts, we send personalised emails matching your preferences. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any alert email (including one-click unsubscribe) or in your account settings. Verification and account-related emails are not marketing and are sent as part of providing the service.
5. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. To make the Site work we store a small amount of data in your browser's local storage (for example, a sign-in token to keep you logged in, and a flag recording that you have subscribed). Our analytics are cookieless. Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, which may process limited technical signals from your browser to confirm you are human.
6. Service providers we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with trusted providers who process it on our behalf to run the Site:
- SendGrid (Twilio) — sending our emails (verification, job alerts and contact-form messages).
- Google — Google Sign-In (if you use it) and Google Maps/Places (to power the location picker when you set alert preferences).
- Cloudflare — website hosting and delivery, cookieless analytics, bot protection (Turnstile) and email routing.
- Google Cloud Platform — hosting our application and database.
We may also disclose data where required by law.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers (such as SendGrid, Google and Cloudflare) are based in or process data in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
8. How long we keep your data
- Account and preferences — until you delete your account or ask us to remove them.
- Job-alert subscription — until you unsubscribe.
- Contact messages — for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and our records.
- Aggregated analytics — retained in anonymous form only.
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings, which removes your personal data from our active systems.
9. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to: access your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@bigbetjobs.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
10. Security
We protect your data with measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and industry-standard password hashing. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
11. Children
The Site is intended for working professionals and is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the "Last updated" date above.
