Process Automation Engineer (AI/ML)

• Design and build automation solutions for bank reconciliation, payment processing, and exception management across multiple markets
• Apply AI/ML techniques such as anomaly detection and classification models to improve automation accuracy and reduce manual intervention
• Integrate automation tools with core banking systems via APIs
• Analyse current-state processes and re-engineer workflows to enable scalable automation across a multi-market environment
• Build and maintain RPA bots and custom scripts for data ingestion, transformation, and matching logic
• Monitor automated processes in production, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimise performance
• Collaborate with Banking Operations and Product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Maintain documentation, controls, and audit trails aligned to regulatory requirements

• 3–5+ years’ experience in process automation, RPA, or software engineering, ideally within banking or payments (required)
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with APIs and structured/unstructured data (required)
• Practical experience applying machine learning techniques (e.g. classification, anomaly detection) in real-world solutions (required)
• Solid understanding of reconciliation processes, payment flows, or banking operations (required)
• Experience in process mapping and re-engineering workflows (Lean/Six Sigma exposure advantageous) (preferred)
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability (required)
• Ability to work effectively across multiple markets and complex data environments (required)
• Experience in multi-country African banking or payments environments (preferred)
• Exposure to payment provider integrations (gateways, EFT, mobile money) (preferred)
• Experience with ERP or finance system migrations (preferred)
• Relevant degree in Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar (or equivalent experience) (required)
