Engineering Manager
An Engineering Manager opportunity within the Platform organization, leading the Payments & Cashier team with end-to-end ownership of the Cashier platform- covering Money In & Money Out flows. This role is responsible for managing mission-critical, high-volume transaction systems while ensuring compliance with diverse geographic regulations. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the ideal candidate is a seasoned leader who can effectively balance tech delivery, stakeholder management, portfolio oversight, and people management — driving teams to plan and deliver with quality and consistency.
- Own and evolve the end-to-end technical payment ecosystem, including deposits, withdrawals, wallet, and real money flows across multiple markets and brands.
- Build and maintain scalable, low-latency, and highly reliable Tier-1 systems , ensuring fault-tolerant design and seamless operations.
- Drive vendor and payment gateway integrations (e.g., PayPal and other providers), ensuring robust and resilient connectivity.
- Ensure regulatory compliance across all operating geographies, proactively adapting to evolving market requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, balancing trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality.
- Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, aligned with business objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
- Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues early to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance — including code reviews — on best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.
- Continuously improve engineering processes, workflows, and tooling to drive efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
- Drive data-informed decision-making using metrics and KPIs to measure team performance, delivery health, and system reliability.
- Champion engineering excellence, test automation , and cost-effective solutions — including leveraging AI for productivity improvements.
- 15+ years of experience driving large-scale enterprise projects, with deep proficiency in Java, system design, distributed architecture, and object-oriented principles — building high-frequency, low-latency, and highly available applications (required).
- Ability to handle a team of 50 people (required).
- Strong command of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including API/web service integrations, CI/CD automation, application monitoring, end-to-end tracing, and performance tuning (required).
- Proven ability to design and operate Tier-1, business-critical systems at scale, with a strong background in wallet systems, revenue platforms, or payments infrastructure (required).
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and deliver complex engineering projects on time and within budget, with a focus on quality, reliability, and engineering excellence (required).
- 4+ years of people management experience with a technologist mindset — hands-on leader capable of conducting code reviews, guiding architectural decisions, and driving a culture of continuous improvement (required).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions in distributed environments (required).
- Product-oriented mindset with a solid understanding of customer experience, software testing standards, and system reliability (required).
