Accounting Team Lead
This role exists to transform and scale our accounting function as the business continues to grow in complexity, geography, and operational maturity. You'll help us build a more predictable, efficient, and scalable finance organisation by standardising accounting processes, strengthening controls, and developing a high-performing accounting team across both statutory and managerial accounting.
- Drive the transformation and standardization of accounting processes across key finance areas.
- Build scalable operating models that support business growth and increasing complexity.
- Define and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards.
- Improve efficiency, consistency, and transparency across accounting operations.
- Contribute to the long-term evolution of the finance function.
- Design and optimize end-to-end accounting processes across revenue, accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, tax, and month-end close.
- Identify process inefficiencies, operational risks, and control gaps.
- Implement practical improvements that strengthen accuracy, compliance, and scalability.
- Support automation initiatives and help reduce manual effort across the accounting function.
- Ensure audit readiness through well-documented and controlled processes.
- Establish clear ownership, responsibilities, and workflows across the accounting team.
- Monitor process effectiveness and continuously improve operational performance.
- Support timely and accurate financial reporting and close activities.
- Drive the adoption of documentation, SOPs, and best practices.
- Partner with finance leadership to prioritize and execute key improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Payroll, Legal, and other business teams to ensure process alignment.
- Act as a trusted advisor on accounting process design and governance matters.
- Translate complex accounting concepts into clear and actionable guidance.
- Facilitate alignment across teams during process changes and transformation projects.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team covering statutory and managerial accounting.
- Build team capabilities through coaching, training programs, and knowledge sharing.
- Create onboarding materials and learning frameworks that support consistent execution.
- Foster accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for accounting-related topics.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance transformation, audit, or a related field. (required)
- 3+ years of people management experience. (required)
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and core accounting processes. (required)
- Solid understanding of both statutory and management accounting. (required)
- Proven experience designing, optimising, and documenting business processes. (required)
- Experience developing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. (required)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, coach, and align stakeholders. (required)
- Upper-Intermediate English or higher. (required)
- Professional proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian. (required)
- Experience in consulting or a Big 4 environment. (nice-to-have)
- Background working in complex international or multi-entity organisations. (nice-to-have)
- Experience leading finance transformation or automation initiatives. (nice-to-have)
