Business Development Manager

Description

The Business Development Manager will play a critical role in driving OpenBet's future growth by identifying, qualifying and developing new commercial opportunities across regulated sports betting markets. The successful candidate will act as the front line of OpenBet's sales organisation, building relationships with operators, lotteries, betting brands and industry stakeholders, generating qualified opportunities and supporting strategic sales initiatives. Working closely with the Chief Business Development Officer, you will help manage complex sales opportunities, contribute to RFP responses, coordinate internal stakeholders and develop a deep understanding of OpenBet's sportsbook and trading solutions. While the initial focus will be on pipeline generation and opportunity development, this role is designed to evolve into a broader enterprise sales position with increasing ownership of commercial negotiations, contract discussions and deal execution.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across sportsbook operators, lotteries and gaming organisations.
  • Generate qualified sales opportunities across OpenBet's Sportsbook Platform, Trading System, SportCast BetBuilder and associated products.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients across EMEA, Africa and LATAM.
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers including C-level executives, commercial leaders, product teams and trading departments.
  • Conduct outreach campaigns, prospecting initiatives and account-based business development activities.
  • Represent OpenBet at industry conferences, exhibitions and customer events.
  • Qualify prospects and assess commercial fit, strategic value and likelihood of success.
  • Lead discovery conversations with prospective customers.
  • Understand customer requirements, challenges and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate internal resources to support opportunity progression.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasting and pipeline reporting.
  • Support the preparation of RFP, RFI and proposal responses.
  • Assist in developing compelling commercial and solution narratives.
  • Work closely with product, trading, technology and delivery teams to gather information and develop customer-facing materials.
  • Contribute market intelligence and competitive insights to strengthen proposals.
  • Help coordinate internal bid management activities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of OpenBet's sportsbook ecosystem, including: Sportsbook Platform, SportCast BetBuilder, Trading System, Managed Trading Services, Promotions Engine, Front-End & CMS solutions, Content and data aggregation services.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory developments, competitor activity and emerging technologies.
  • Build expertise across sports betting operations, trading, sportsbook technology and customer acquisition strategies.
Requirements
  • 5–10 years' experience in business development, sales development, or enterprise software sales. (required)
  • Experience selling SaaS, technology platforms, software solutions or B2B technology services. (required)
  • Proven ability to generate pipeline and create qualified sales opportunities. (required)
  • Experience managing multiple opportunities simultaneously. (required)
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills. (required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (required)
  • Experience contributing to proposals, tenders or RFP processes. (required)
  • Commercially minded with strong organisational skills and attention to detail. (required)
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international environment. (required)
  • Experience within sports betting, iGaming, sports data, trading, gaming technology or adjacent industries. (preferred)
  • Understanding of sportsbook operations, trading functions or betting products. (preferred)
  • Experience selling enterprise technology solutions. (preferred)
  • Exposure to complex multi-stakeholder sales cycles. (preferred)
  • Experience working with regulated industries. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and structured sales methodologies. (preferred)
