Description

As a Platform Engineer at OpenBet, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers our industry-leading sports betting platform. Leveraging your expertise in Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps and Terraform, you will ensure our systems are scalable, secure and resilient to meet the demands of global users. This role requires a strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative environment, drives automation and champions best practices in cloud engineering. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and optimize our platform, enabling seamless delivery of real-time betting experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Optimize infrastructure for high availability, disaster recovery, and performance across global regions.
  • Develop robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to enable rapid, reliable software delivery
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and operational processes to reduce manual intervention
  • Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform to ensure consistency, version control, and reproducibility.
  • Collaborate with developers to embed IaC practices into the SDL
  • Enforce security best practices, including identity management, network policies, and data encryption.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001)
  • Design monitoring solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, Application Insights) to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Drive incident response and root cause analysis for critical platform incidents.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with software engineering, QA, and product teams to align platform capabilities with business goals
  • Stay ahead of cloud technology trends and evaluate tools to enhance platform efficiency.
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives without compromising performance or reliability.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in cloud/platform engineering, with deep proficiency in Microsoft Azure (e.g., Container Apps, Virtual Machine Scale Sets, Azure Functions, Service Bus, PostgreSQL, Networking).
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline design, including YAML, release management, and artifact repositories
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and modular code practices.
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation and tooling.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Azure Monitor and Datadog).
  • Experience in high-traffic, low-latency environments (e.g., gaming, betting, fintech).
  • Problem-solving agility to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative spirit with a track record of thriving in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Passion for innovation, automation, and continuous learning
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert) (Nice to Have)
  • HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification (Nice to Have)
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture (Nice to Have)
  • Background in the sports betting/gaming industry (Nice to Have)
