Principal Windows Systems Engineer

Description

The Goal We are looking for a Principal Windows Infrastructure Engineer to own and evolve our global Windows, virtualization, server, storage, and backup infrastructure. This is a senior hands-on technical role with responsibility for architecture, planning, operations, lifecycle management, standards, and continuous improvement across Windows systems, virtualization platforms, enterprise hardware, storage arrays, backup platforms, and core infrastructure services.

Responsibilities
  • Own the global Windows server infrastructure, including design, operations, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Own the virtualization environment, including VMware Cloud Foundation, vCenter, and Hyper-V.
  • Own enterprise systems hardware, including server, storage, and backup platforms.
  • Lead infrastructure architecture, planning, standards, and technical roadmap activities.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and problems.
  • Administer Windows Server, Server Core, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Develop PowerShell automation for operations, reporting, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Manage Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant server platforms.
  • Manage enterprise storage platforms, including NetApp and HPE MSA arrays.
  • Own backup and recovery platforms, preferably Veeam.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery, restore testing, and business continuity planning.
  • Perform patching, upgrades, hardening, firmware updates, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor availability, performance, capacity, backup status, and system health.
  • Improve infrastructure stability, security, scalability, recoverability, and efficiency.
  • Define and maintain technical documentation, procedures, standards, and runbooks.
  • Work closely with network, security, application, vendor, and service provider teams.
  • Participate in on-call / standby support duties.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in Windows systems administration in large-scale environments. (required)
  • Strong ownership experience across Windows infrastructure, virtualization, servers, storage, and backup. (required)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, including Windows Server Core. (required)
  • Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, LDAP, and authentication services. (required)
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills. (required)
  • Strong experience owning VMware Cloud Foundation, vCenter, and/or Hyper-V environments. (required)
  • Strong experience with enterprise server hardware, especially Dell PowerEdge and HPE ProLiant. (required)
  • Strong experience with enterprise storage platforms, especially NetApp and HPE MSA. (required)
  • Strong experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms, preferably Veeam. (required)
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, subnetting, VPNs, and firewalls. (required)
  • Solid knowledge of DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, WMI and TLS/SSL. (required)
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Grafana. (required)
  • Experience with Tanium or similar configuration/deployment tooling. (required)
  • Experience with Azure or AWS. (required)
  • Understanding of ITIL practices and change management processes. (required)
  • Strong troubleshooting, planning, documentation, and communication skills. (required)
  • Experience with acquisitions, mergers, migrations, or infrastructure integrations. (nice-to-have)
  • Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, ITIL, Azure, or AWS certifications. (nice-to-have)
  • Experience in global, multi-site, or data center environments. (nice-to-have)
  • Experience defining infrastructure standards, roadmaps, lifecycle plans, and backup/recovery strategies. (nice-to-have)
