Head of Poker
This is an exciting and challenging role for a Head of Poker within a fast-growing business group. You will have the opportunity to be part of a multicultural team of top professionals and contribute to a success-driven mindset. The role involves strategic management, P&L ownership, product development, marketing and traffic acquisition, retention strategies, security and network ecology management, and a data-driven approach to decision-making. You will also be responsible for team building and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strategic Management and P&L – Long-term strategy development: Creating a long-term strategy for poker as a standalone product and as part of the casino ecosystem.
– Financial planning: Full ownership of the vertical’s P&L (revenues and expenses). Forecasting GGR and NGR, and controlling marketing budgets.
– Operational audit: Continuous monitoring of the effectiveness of current processes and оперативная adjustment to achieve business goals.
- Product Development and Operations -Product lifecycle management: Prioritization and supervision of new feature implementation.
– Game economy management: Participation in the design and optimization of tournament schedules, configuration of rakeback systems and bonus mechanics.
– Liquidity management: Ensuring constant table activity (24/7 table fill) through schedule balancing and traffic attraction during peak hours.
- Marketing and Traffic Acquisition – Traffic acquisition management: Working with the traffic department to develop strategies for attracting poker players. Selection of effective GEOs and partnership models (CPA, RS, Hybrid).
– Affiliate partnerships: Building relationships with key poker media (e.g., GipsyTeam, PokerStrategy) and specialized poker schools.
– Cross-marketing: Creating funnels to convert active casino players into poker players and vice versa to maximize LTV.
- Retention – Bonus strategy: Designing and launching promotions, campaigns, and tournament series. Regular analysis of bonus efficiency and its impact on retention.
– Community management: Supervising the SMM strategy and building a loyal community around the product.
– VIP management: Developing loyalty programs for high-rollers and regular players.
- Security and Network Ecology – Fraud prevention: Developing and implementing policies for detecting bots, team play, chip dumping, and the use of prohibited software.
– Network ecology management: Monitoring the balance between recreational players and professionals. Implementing tools to protect recreational players and extend their lifecycle.
- Analytics (Data-Driven Approach) – Data analysis: Building reporting in Tableau and conducting daily analysis of key metrics (DAU, FTD, Retention D1/D7/D30, Churn Rate).
– Decision-making: Adjusting strategy and tactics based on data, conducting A/B tests for game mechanics and marketing offers.
- Team and Cross-Functional Collaboration – Hiring and team development: Searching for, hiring, and onboarding key team members (SMM specialists, analysts, operations managers).
– Cross-department collaboration: Establishing effective communication with development, design, support, and payment teams to ensure fast execution of vertical tasks.
- At least 3 years of experience in the iGaming industry in leadership roles within the Poker vertical (Head of Poker, Poker Product Manager, Poker Operations Manager)
- Experience launching a poker project or launching and scaling the Poker vertical within an existing online casino, with proven results
- P&L ownership and management, including developing the Poker vertical growth strategy and a marketing strategy for promoting cash games and tournaments
- Experience in attracting poker-focused traffic through different models (CPA, RS, Hybrid), evaluating traffic source performance, forecasting ROI, and implementing cross-sell strategies for active players
- Experience hiring and building teams required to achieve business goals, including establishing efficient internal processes
- Strong understanding of customer retention principles, including working with bonus systems and monitoring their effectiveness
- Experience in team leadership and cross-functional collaboration with other departments
- Understanding of anti-fraud principles, including methods for detecting bots and unfair play
- Data-driven approach, with decision-making based on analytical data and performance insights
- English proficiency: Upper-Intermediate level or higher (for communication with the team, international partners, and vendors)
- Creativity: Ability to develop and implement bold marketing ideas
- Industry network and connections with professional players: Established relationships with poker affiliates, training schools, and tournament series organizers
