The Live Sports Trading Team Lead will oversee the live trading team responsible for key global sports markets, including basketball, hockey, and baseball leagues. The team operates primarily from a European time zone while covering competitions across these sports. The role involves leading the team to ensure accurate and timely pricing, risk management, and execution of live in-play betting markets. The Team Lead will be responsible for driving the performance of the live trading team, managing market efficiency, and maintaining profitability while delivering a high-quality betting experience for customers.
- Lead a team of live sports traders focused on basketball, hockey, and baseball leagues, ensuring the team operates efficiently and effectively during live events.
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior traders to improve their performance and ensure adherence to best practices in trading.
- Schedule team shifts to cover live events, ensuring proper staffing for peak times, including evenings, weekends, and major sporting events.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to traders to foster continuous development.
- Assist the Live NA Sports Manager to support business goals.
- Oversee the execution of live in-play betting markets across basketball, hockey, and baseball leagues, ensuring accurate pricing and market management during events.
- Monitor real-time sports data feeds, analyse market movements, and adjust odds to ensure the best market coverage.
- Manage the team’s risk exposure, balancing profitability with customer value, while maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
- Ensure high liquidity in the live markets while minimizing the company’s risk exposure during volatile events.
- Implement and oversee risk management strategies to ensure the company maintains a balanced book across all live markets.
- Analyse previous performance data to optimize trading strategies, improve pricing accuracy, and identify trends that can be leveraged for future events.
- Stay informed of market trends, industry developments, and competitor offerings to keep the trading team’s performance at the forefront of the industry.
- Lead the development of new live trading products and features specific to basketball, hockey, and baseball markets.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve trading processes, automation, and operational efficiency within the team.
- Introduce new trading tools and technology to increase the accuracy and speed of live betting markets.
- Monitor and report on KPIs, including market turnover, margins, and trader productivity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a relevant discipline is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in live sports trading, with strong exposure to basketball, hockey, or baseball markets (required).
- Proven track record of managing a live trading team in a fast-paced environment (required).
- Strong understanding of live in-play betting markets and the dynamics of major global sports leagues (required).
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team of traders (required).
