Lead DevOps Engineer

Description

Playtech is looking for a proactive Lead DevOps Engineer with strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills. In this role, you will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of our cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on Kubernetes-based environments. You will drive CI/CD automation, improve system reliability and observability, and enforce best practices across infrastructure as code, monitoring, and incident management. As a team lead, you will guide DevOps engineers, optimize production systems, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Resolve most complex DevOps tasks.
  • Lead the team of Product Operations engineers.
  • Conduct a comprehensive audit of existing service‑management processes and develop a clear plan for their improvement.
  • Establish key operational performance indicators and create a clear plan to track, measure, and improve them.
  • Provide immediate respond for any alert.
  • Liaise with SL1/SL3, 3rd parties and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide regular reports to direct manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (required).
  • 5+ years’ experience as a DevOps engineer or SRE engineer (required).
  • 1+ years of leading/management experience (required).
  • Fluent verbal and writing communication skills in English (required).
  • Strong understanding of the ITIL framework (required).
  • Hands-on experience working with production environments with zero tolerance for errors (required).
  • Strong experience in Linux, Docker, configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet), CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins), Cloud services (AWS), and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Nomad) (required).
  • Experience writing infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform (required).
  • Worked with monitoring systems (Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios/Sensu) and logging solutions (Elastic Stack, Loki) (required).
  • Interact effectively with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business stakeholders (required).
  • Experience supporting web applications with microservices architecture, including Akka cluster management and monitoring (nice-to-have).
  • Knowledge of NoSQL database support (MongoDB, Couchbase) and NGINX server management (nice-to-have).
  • Programming skills in Python/Bash (nice-to-have).
  • Worked in a global, multilingual organization (nice-to-have).
