Senior Platform Engineer

Description

Here at evoke plc, our platform engineering teams manage shared infrastructure and empower delivery teams through DevOps practices, ensuring system reliability, performance, and supportability. In this role, you'll have previous experience working in Agile environments, emphasising clear communication and iterative development. You'll be AI proficient and have experience using AI tooling used for daily engineering tasks like GitHub CoPilot and ChatGPT.

Responsibilities
  • Implement observability and security, utilising the Four Golden Signals with testing and disaster recovery plans and automating deployments.
  • Using CI/CD pipelines for rapid, efficient delivery across teams
  • Enhancing container orchestration and data storage platforms, leveraging Kubernetes
  • Incident Management, supporting production incidents, including 'on-call' rotations after initial training
  • Knowledge Sharing by promoting best practices and document processes
  • Enhancing CI/CD workflows and tools
  • Optimising and managing Kubernetes for scalability
  • Designing and maintaining platforms, influencing architecture and strategy and using AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, and observability tools for visibility and performance and defining policies for testing and documentation to maintain high quality.
Requirements
  • Cloud and Infrastructure experience, you'll be highly proficient in AWS, utilising Infrastructure as code tools like Terraform for efficient management and skilled in deploying to Kubernetes (required).
  • Experience in creating CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and ArgoCD (required).
  • Experience in managing GitHub Enterprise is a highly desired skill (nice-to-have).
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk (required).
  • Excellent understanding and applying security best practices you'll have familiarity with incident management, on-call duties, and maintaining system reliability (required).
  • Desirable skills include; experience with Istio for service mesh management (nice-to-have).
  • Handling data platforms like Kafka, SQL, and NoSQL databases and proficient in Python and Bash scripting (required).
  • Experience in Linux systems management (required).
