Software Engineer, Java (Identity Platform)
Modernise and scale the core systems that power user identity, authentication, onboarding and compliance across the entire platform. You’ll work on high-impact initiatives ranging from decomposing legacy monoliths and migrating critical user-domain services, to building modern authentication infrastructure, audit-ready compliance systems and secure developer access tooling. Operating at the intersection of backend engineering, security, compliance and platform architecture, you’ll solve complex technical challenges that directly influence scalability, regulatory readiness and customer trust. - Design and develop scalable backend services using Java within an event-driven microservices architecture while helping migrate critical functionality away from legacy monoliths
- Build and improve systems powering identity management, authentication, token validation, audit logging and compliance-related workflows
- Drive modernization initiatives including authentication refactors, legacy service deprecation and adoption of secure, standardised platform tooling
- Collaborate closely with Product, Compliance, Legal, Security and Platform teams to deliver scalable solutions for regulatory and operational requirements
- Improve system reliability, observability, maintainability and developer experience through clean architecture, automated testing and infrastructure improvements
- Strong backend engineering experience using Java and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot (required)
- Experience working with distributed systems, microservice migrations and scalable REST APIs (required)
- Practical knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, ideally Postgres and MongoDB (required)
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ or SQS (required)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and modern identity or authentication systems is a strong plus (preferred)
