Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant will work under the direction of the Accounting Manager, US, supporting the month-end close process and day-to-day financial operations for North America. NA is an expanding market for Evolution, and being able to support the organization when expanding in existing or entering new states will be a key deliverable for the accounting team. A successful candidate will have a hands-on attitude and will strive for process improvement by collaborating with other departments in the company.
- Own and execute key aspects of the month-end close, including the preparation and posting of journal entries (accruals, prepaids, and reclasses), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review and oversee payroll accounting activities, including validating payroll accuracy, preparing and posting payroll journal entries, and reconciling payroll-related accounts.
- Partner closely with HR and ADP to ensure payroll data integrity, accurate general ledger recording, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items prior to reporting deadlines.
- Maintain fixed asset and inventory subledgers, including recording additions, transfers, and disposals in accordance with company policies.
- Prepare account analyses and supporting schedules for internal and external financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor requests in a timely manner.
- Identify and implement process improvements, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and strengthening internal controls.
- Collaborate with staff accountants and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and efficient financial operations.
- Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance on accounting processes, reviewing work where needed, and helping to develop their technical skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Strong payroll accounting experience, including reviewing payroll for accuracy, posting payroll journal entries, and reconciling payroll-related accounts.
- Solid understanding of payroll processes and internal controls, with experience partnering with HR and systems such as ADP.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
- Proven ability to prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, analyze variances, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong overall systems skills; experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Business Central is preferred.
