Senior Quant Developer

Description

The Quant Development unit of the Data Science team is looking for a Senior Quant Developer that will be responsible for creating and maintaining sports betting forecasting models. The role will be based in Athens.

Responsibilities
  • Creates new player props markets from price feed and stats data, including exotic betting markets unlike any in our current offering.
  • Designs new sports betting models and optimizes existing ones, including making pricing more accurate, the code more scalable, and execution perform better for time or memory.
  • Owns the team's services such as Alerting for Traders.
  • Manages data pipelines on the cloud and ensures they are efficient and scalable.
  • Implements new design patterns for coding best practice in object-oriented programming and communicates them to the team.
  • Engages with client-facing teams to understand customer's needs and business requirements, and creates and delivers project presentations to leadership.
  • Collaborates closely with product owners and software developers to move projects from idea to integration.
  • Acts as a mentor for junior team members and leads regular knowledge share sessions on subjects like sports betting models, API design, and cloud solutions.
Requirements
  • A postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of working experience, or a PhD in a quantitative field and 2+ years of working experience.
  • Advanced programming skills: (a) object-oriented programming (C# or Python) and (b) databases (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Experience with various modelling techniques (e.g. Probability Distributions, GLMs, Monte Carlo Simulations, Bayesian Inference, Time-Series Analysis etc.)
  • A demonstrable interest in developing forecasting models for sports.
  • A good understanding of betting concepts and markets.
  • 2+ years working experience in the betting industry.
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning methodologies (e.g. Neural Networks, Random Forests, GBMs, SVMs etc.).
  • Experience with cloud computing services.
  • Experience with version control platforms (e.g. GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc.).
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • You must have a strong work ethic and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • You must be self-motivated, a team-player and a creative thinker.
