AI Programmer
LightSpeed Japan Studio is a game development studio dedicated to crafting original AAA action game titles for global audiences. Led by industry veteran Hideaki Itsuno, the studio operates across two locations in Tokyo and Osaka.

- Design and implement player character behavior AI (combat AI, exploration AI, etc.)
- Build AI architecture using Behavior Trees, Utility AI, State Machines, etc.
- Implement and improve Navigation Mesh and Pathfinding
- Design logic for advanced tactical behaviors such as surrounding, encircling, and evasion
- Collaborate with level designers and game designers to define AI specifications
- Debug AI behavior, adjust behavior, and optimize performance
- Extend AI-related systems and improve tools using UE5
- If you have experience with learning AI (ML, reinforcement learning, etc.),
- You can also be responsible for applying it to NPC behavior optimization and test automation.
- Practical game development experience using C++
- AI development experience in console games or medium to large-scale titles
- Experience implementing AI logic using Behavior Trees, State Machines, etc.
- Basic understanding of Navigation, Pathfinding, and Movement control
- Communication skills to understand game design intentions and translate them into AI specifications
- Debugging skills and analytical ability to improve AI behavior
- Experience with humanoid AI/ally AI
- Experience building AI architecture (decision-making) using Behavior Trees, Utility AI, State Machines, GOAP (Goal-Oriented Action Planning), etc.
- Experience implementing and improving Navigation Mesh, Pathfinding, steering behaviors, and formation movement
- Group control/meta AI: Experience managing the entire game (enemy, ally AI, NPCs) rather than individual AI
- Conversation systems: Experience developing real-time character chatter and combat conversations.
- Annual salary: Negotiable (with salary increases/bonuses)
- Will be commensurate with experience and skills, based on our company regulations.
- For general employees, a fixed overtime allowance for 35 hours per month is included.
For management positions, a fixed overtime allowance for 10 hours per month is included.
- Working hours: 09:30 ~ 18:30, Break time: 60 minutes

- Paid leave: In the first year of employment, granted pro-rata based on the month of joining. Up to 22 days based on years of service.
