Technical Product Owner
The Technical Product Owner is responsible for driving the development, scalability, and reliability of Pinnacle’s core technical platforms, including backend systems, APIs, back-office tools, and risk & compliance systems domains such as KYC, Fraud, and AML. Reporting to the PMBA Manager, this role works closely with Architecture, Development, Compliance and Operations teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions. The Technical Product Owner ensures that systems are secure, scalable, compliant, and capable of supporting seamless operational and player experiences. This role plays a critical part in defining and executing the roadmap for core platform capabilities, enabling efficient operations, regulatory adherence, and long-term technical sustainability.
- Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for backend platforms, APIs, and operational tools, ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, and technical objectives.
- Define and evolve product strategies for key domains including: Core backend systems and services, API ecosystem (internal and external integrations), Back-office and operational tools, KYC, Fraud detection, and AML systems.
- Collaborate with Architecture and Engineering to ensure systems are scalable, resilient, and aligned with long-term technical direction.
- Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into actionable product initiatives.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog by creating, organizing, and refining user stories, technical tasks, and improvements based on business value and impact.
- Work closely with development teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and deliverables meet quality, stability, and compliance standards.
- Lead product planning, release coordination, and delivery cycles, ensuring timelines, dependencies, and certification requirements are met.
- Proactively identify and manage risks that could impact delivery, performance, or regulatory compliance.
- Facilitate workshops with business and technology teams to define problems, map processes, and improve workflows through business analysis and service design techniques.
- Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, particularly Compliance, Payments, Customer Operations, and Risk teams.
- Collaborate closely with Compliance teams on KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Fraud and Risk teams on detection, prevention, and monitoring systems.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Support team on back-office capabilities, Responsible gambling features.
- Ensure clear communication of complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Work with third-party providers (e.g., KYC vendors) to optimize integrations and performance.
- Define and monitor KPIs for system performance, including: API reliability and latency, System uptime and scalability, KYC verification success rates and turnaround times.
- Partner with Business Intelligence and Data teams to leverage insights for continuous improvement.
- Drive automation and optimization of operational workflows, particularly within back-office and compliance processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field is considered an asset.
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a Product Owner/Manager in a technical or platform-focused role, ideally within iGaming, fintech, or regulated industries.
- Strong understanding of backend architectures and distributed systems (required).
- Strong understanding of API design and integrations (REST, webhooks, microservices) (required).
- Strong understanding of KYC processes and tools (nice to have).
- Experience using tools such as JIRA and Confluence to manage and document requirements (required).
- Hands-on technical background (e.g., software development, system design) is highly valued.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across engineering, compliance, and operations (required).
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand and discuss system architecture and integrations (required).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail (required).
- Ability to balance technical constraints with business priorities (required).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences (required).
