Deputy of General Counsel
SoftConstruct is on a search for a new player to join our team as Deputy of General Counsel. This role involves supporting the General Counsel in developing and implementing the organisation’s legal strategy to support business objectives while minimising legal risks. It also includes assisting in identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks associated with corporate operations, transactions, and regulatory changes. The position requires helping to ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, and assisting in the development and enforcement of internal policies, legal guidelines, and corporate governance frameworks. The role also entails monitoring legislative developments and providing updates on regulatory changes that may impact the company, as well as supporting the oversight of the company’s ethics and compliance programs. Furthermore, the Deputy of General Counsel will assist the General Counsel in leading and managing the legal department, including the training, mentoring, and performance evaluation of legal staff, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring continuous professional development. Reviewing the work of in-house legal professionals to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policies is also a key responsibility. Finally, the role includes carrying out other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor that align with the job description and comply with the labour code.

- Assist in the development and enforcement of internal policies, legal guidelines, and corporate governance frameworks.
- Monitor legislative developments and provide updates on regulatory changes that may impact the company.
- Support the oversight of the company’s ethics and compliance programs, ensuring adherence to corporate and industry regulations.
- Assist the General Counsel in leading and managing the legal department, including the training, mentoring, and performance evaluation of legal staff.
- Foster a high-performance culture within the legal team and ensure continuous professional development.
- Review the work of in-house legal professionals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with corporate policies.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor that align with the job description and comply with the labour code.
- Master’s degree in Law (or Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic credentials). (required)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate legal advisory, contract negotiation, and compliance. (required)
- At least 5 years of experience in a legal leadership, supervisory, or senior management role. (required)
- Deep operational experience in corporate law, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. (required)
- Proven leadership experience in supervising legal professionals and managing corporate legal operations. (required)
- Strong understanding of business law, corporate governance, and risk management. (required)
- Excellent proficiency in Armenian, English, and Russian languages. (required)
- Experience working in international corporate environments is an advantage. (preferred)
- Proficiency in legal research, documentation, and contract management tools. (required)
