Description

We are seeking an experienced Legal Operations Lead to join our global Legal, Regulatory & Compliance team. This is a newly created role that will be instrumental in scaling our legal operations function to support the global Legal, Regulatory & Compliance team as well as Trustly's rapid growth across multiple jurisdictions. The Legal Operations Lead will be responsible for optimizing legal processes, implementing and managing legal technology solutions, and driving operational excellence across the global Legal, Regulatory & Compliance team. You will work at the intersection of law, business, and technology, ensuring the legal function operates efficiently and delivers maximum value to the business. This role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on execution capabilities, someone who can build scalable systems and processes while managing day-to-day operations. You will partner closely with the Global Head of Corporate and Strategy, legal team members across jurisdictions (particularly in Sweden, the UK, and the US), and cross-functional stakeholders including Finance and IT. The Legal Operations Lead will be a key member of the global Legal, Regulatory & Compliance team, responsible for implementing best practices in legal operations, managing external counsel relationships, overseeing and managing legal spend, and leveraging technology to enhance the team's effectiveness. This is a role that demands exceptional organizational skills, analytical and data driven thinking, stakeholder management, and a track record of driving transformation and solving complex operational challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve legal processes and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce risk across the global Legal team.
  • Lead the evaluation, implementation, and management of legal technology solutions, including, for example, contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, matter management tools, and legal analytics platforms.
  • Develop and maintain legal operations metrics and KPIs to measure team performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Assist in managing relationships with external counsel and legal service providers across multiple jurisdictions, including panel management, rate negotiations, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee legal spend management, budgeting, and forecasting in collaboration with Finance, ensuring cost-effective delivery of legal services.
  • Build and maintain the Legal team's knowledge management systems, templates, playbooks, and self-service resources to enable business stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to streamline legal intake, triage, and matter management processes.
  • Develop and implement training programs for the Legal team on new tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure integrated governance frameworks and efficient regulatory reporting processes.
  • Establish vendor management frameworks for legal technology, services, and consultants, including procurement, contracting, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Drive adoption of legal technology and process improvements across the organization through change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Benchmark the legal operations function against industry best practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with IT and Information Security teams to ensure legal technology solutions meet data protection and security requirements.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of combined legal practice and legal operations experience, preferably in FinTech, financial services, or high-growth technology companies.
  • Proven track record in legal operations, including process optimization, legal technology implementation, and vendor management.
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving organizational change.
  • Demonstrated experience with legal technology platforms such as contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, matter management tools, e-billing solutions, or legal analytics platforms.
  • Experience managing external counsel relationships and legal spend across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to develop metrics, analyze data, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to understand commercial objectives and align legal operations to support business goals.
  • Collaborative mindset with excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with demonstrated ability to identify problems and implement effective solutions.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
