Senior Tax Accountant
We’re looking for an experienced tax professional to join the BetMGM Tax Department in a hybrid role that will be based out of our Jersey City office. The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for key components of the income tax compliance and tax provision processes. This role manages complex workpapers, assists with information reporting, and helps oversee ancillary tax functions such as sales tax and business property tax. The ideal candidate will collaborate across departments to streamline processes and may contribute to international tax initiatives.
- Responsible for key components of the income tax compliance process
- Prepare, update, and manage essential elements of the tax accounting and provision processes
- Assist with informational reporting and withholding requirements (e.g., 1099, 1042, W‑2G)
- Co‑manage various ancillary tax functions including sales tax, business property tax, local business filings, vendor contract reviews and oversee the tax notice resolution process
- Partner across the organization to identify, design, and implement process improvements
- Familiarity with international tax is a plus
- Develop and enhance complex tax workpapers, schedules, and analytical models
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another similar business field
- Master’s degree in Tax is a plus
- CPA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of professional US corporate tax experience
- Experience with income tax compliance and planning is strongly preferred
- Experience with tax accounting and provision
- Experience in the technology, gaming, and/or sports industries is a plus
- Experience working for a company that operates in a highly regulated environment (e.g., banking, telecom, energy, etc.) is a plus
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Must have strong Excel skills with a desire to continually maintain and improve those skills
- Must be open to learning about new areas of tax and financial reporting (via internal trainings and continuing professional education courses)
